ELIGIBILITY

Grassroots To Champions (G2C) is proud to design and host this major skating event.  This event is designed to provide opportunity and education for emerging young choreographers, ages 14 to 30, to challenge them to create new work with the emphasis on artistry, and to provide deep, ongoing mentorship from acclaimed choreographers.  The Young Artists Showcase (YAS) offers the opportunity for selected choreographers to participate in an online contest which will be a series of challenges as designed by top choreographers to help the young choreographers develop their craft.

All Choreographers 14 to 30, are encouraged to enter this event.  ALL entries will be evaluated by a panel of Professional/Olympic/World Choreographers and G2C Judges.

HOW YAS3 WORKS

Apply according to the criteria.  Your application will be viewed by a panel of experts.  ALL applicants will receive an evaluation of their work and be given opportunities to participate in discussion groups.

Selected contestants will be notified no later than April 27, 2012 that they have been invited to participate in the online challenge.

All online challenges will be revealed April 27, 2012.  Contestants will be informed of specific deadlines for posting their work.  Challenges will be issued to applicants once their entry has been accepted.  Some challenges will allow the choreographer to perform their own work, while others will have assigned skaters/levels of skating talent.

A rotating panel of judges will evaluate and give a review of the pieces, which will be rated using stars, half and whole up to 5 stars.  The judges will post their reviews online and a tally will be kept for each contestant.  The two choreographers with the most stars in their category, Grassroots and Champions Divisions, will be invited to compete in the live finals.

For the Final Live Show:  Travel to the show, accommodations, meals and training times are the responsibility of G2C/YAS3.  The live show will be held in Lake Placid, NY. (Travel dates/commitment:  June 24-June 28, 2012) There will be two more challenges that will determine the winner of each category, with the possibility of a face-off improvisation should there be a tie.  Grassroots level skaters participating in the Final Show, must have proper escort and supervision at all times.

G2C will be responsible for assisting the winners in arrangements for their NY debut and mentorship, however, completion of such opportunities are the sole responsibility of the contestants within one year of the completion of the YAS3 2012.
